UKCA Host a total of 5 National Competitions a year (all of which are highly addictive!)

Each one requires different skills and standards, this is to give coaches the choice as to which competition their teams are best suited to and to ensure fair play so that similar standards of teams are competing against one another.

This UKCA system is designed to help all teams and coaches feel comfortable and confident that they are taking part in a fair and structured competition and they have a clear progression route, from grass roots level to European and World level competitions.
The competition structure is as follows:
World Level
European Level
UKCA National Level
UKCA Club National Level
UKCA Community National Level
UKCA’s Educational and Community competitions are also national events. These encompass:
Schools National Level
Street Cheer National & Community National Level

UKCA National Level

This is a top level competition and usually produces excellent standards, we encourage teams entering at national level to be confident and competent with skills and the compulsory elements required for this level of competition.

Please note the rules for this competition are in line with the European rules, to make representation in Europe as similar as possible for teams and coaches.

The European Board reserves the right to change competition rules at any time. Please be aware changes may be required for certain elements of any routine to keep within the European guidelines.

UKCA Club Level

This is a brand new level of competition and has been developed to help teams take the step from Community Level towards National Level, which in the past has proved to be a difficult transition for some teams.

The club level is an ideal competition for teams with some competition or performance experience and we encourage any teams who have had 1st – 3rd Placed routines at Community Level to consider the move into Club Level.

UKCA Community Level

The UKCA community level is designed for new or beginner teams to start their journey in competitive cheerleading. The skill level in Community is lower than Club and National but please don’t be misled, this doesn’t mean the standard is low. Each year we are consistently impressed with the talent we see at Community Level. It’s fantastic to see the cheerleading teams progress to the next level. Community level is a real confidence booster for both teams and coaches.

The skill level is capped and fewer categories are on offer, this is because we take the LTAD (Long Term Athletic Development) of teams and individuals into consideration and feel it can be a danger to athletes to push them too much too soon which can often happen under the pressure of competition.

National Schools
UKCA offer a completely separate competition structure for the education system, we pride ourselves on the development and success of Cheerleading within the education system we have seen over the past 4 years.

Cheerleading in schools works differently depending on which area of the country you are based.

At present, the National Schools Competition is open to all teams that are school based. There is no formal requirement to qualify for the competition. Team coaches will need to fill in the national schools booking forms.

Some areas offer regional or inter-schools festivals which act as qualifying competitions and feed the winners into the National Schools Competition, as an association we can offer help and support if you are interested in setting up a regional event in your area.
