From Hollywood to Hip Hop, the UK has a long tradition of importing the best of the USA culture. Cheerleading is one of the latest arrivals to take the Country by storm, with school children nationwide getting involved with this exciting activity.

Over 4370 teachers have been trained by the UK Cheerleading Association (UKCA), giving thousands of youngsters the opportunity to enjoy regular exercise through Cheerleading, particularly those disenchanted with traditional sport.

UKCA is able to provide Cheerleading courses for teachers, allowing them to learn skills which will ultimately open new doors for students.

Cheerleading Basic Skills is a one day (6 hours) course focusing on Arm Motions, Vocals, Jumps, Choreography, Visual Effects and Lesson Planning.

Leadership courses for Students (Year 8+) are also available. This one day (6 hours) course effectively underpins the Basic Skills course by introducing Coaching Principles, Safety, Motivation, Communication, Risk Assessment, Lesson Planning and How to teach a Cheerleading Warm Up session.

UKCA are working to develop Cheerleading qualifications that will fit into the UKCC framework. If you think you or any of your staff may be interested in becoming a qualified Cheer coach, or would like to find out more about Cheerleading, please feel free to visit our diary page where you can see our Events and Course calendar.

If you are interested in hosting your own course, or attending one of our open courses run all over the UK, please feel free to contact us on 01625 838557 to find out more.

The Cheerleading ‘Spirit Awards’ and ‘Next Step Competition’ are directly linked to the
National Curriculum and we are pleased that the quality of the resource and its relevance to the education sector has been recognized through the endorsement of the Association for Physical Education (afPE)
